Cranberry Sauce

I am a huge fan of tart fruit including the super fruit-cranberries. Cranberry sauce is so delicious and easy to make without all those foreign ingredients found in the can. Also, cranberry sauce isn’t just for Thanksgiving or Christmas but tastes fantastic with a turkey sandwich or with some goat cheese any day of the year. You can also adjust the sugar to your sweetness level when made at home. Transform family meals all year long by making and enjoying this cranberry sauce.

Ingredients:

12 ounces of fresh rinsed cranberries

1 cup of coconut sugar (turbinado sugar works good too but you can also use regular sugar)

3/4 cup of water

1 tablespoon of orange zest

Juice of one large orange

1 cinnamon stick

Directions:

Step 1: Heat a large pan with water over medium-high heat.

Step 2: Add your sugar and mix until the sugar is dissolved in the water.

Step 3: Add the cranberries, cinnamon stick, orange juice, and orange zest. Mix together.

Step 4: Cover your pot and cook until all of the cranberries popped.

Step 5: Remove the lid and stir once again then turn off the heat.

Step 6: Allow the cranberry sauce to cool. As it cools it will thicken.

Step 7: Remove the cinnamon sticks and chill in the fridge or enjoy right away.
